Tap is a rhythmic dance. Lessons will be available for beginners to advanced students. Before buying shoes, please inquire as to what kind you will be using in your class.
Shoes
For tap dancing, there are several types of shoes. Usually, beginners start with flat heeled, laced shoes, such as the pair by Capezio, pictured below.
For more experienced female dancers, often tap shoes with heels are more common. The shoes pictured below are from Capezio and are called "Character Shoes". Character shoes don't come with taps, taps must be purchased separately and then put onto the shoe (see below). The shoes on the left are tan, but black (on the right) is also a common color.

For men, a simple dress shoe with single taps are most common. This pair is made by Capezio.

Even the taps that go on the shoes can be very different. These different taps could all go on the character shoes shown above.

Double Taps (Toe on left, heel on right)

Clothing
Clothing for tap dancing is pretty simple. We ask that you wear tights or a pair of thin socks underneath either pants or shorts and a comfortable shirt.
